Boyfriend acting weird, I don't know ...?

Lately, my boyfriend has been acting really strange. We've dating for 3 months and we've said the whole I love you thing, and he used to be so sweet! He would constantly say I love you and say all these sweet things to me. We would talk on the phone for several hours and he would always call me baby or baby girl. But the past few days, he seems distant and weird. He doesn't call me babe at all, and I've heard him say I love you once in a week. We've talked on the phone maybe 20 minutes in 4 days. I see him, if I'm lucky, twice a week. He lives a half hour away and goes to a different high school, so I don't see him that much. And yesterday, he said something to me that bothered me. He said I should hang out with my friends because I hang out with him too much. I BARELY see him, and I never text him/call him first. He always makes the attempt to talk to me. So I don't understand that. I asked him if he still wanted to be with me and he freaked out and asked me why I was asking stupid questions. I just don't really know what to do. Whenever we talk, he's always so short with me. Why do you think he's acting like this? Anyone, help?
